FIRE & NICE

This Margarita turns up the heat and then soothes you with sweetness

For National Margarita Day, I wanted to try a new take on the Margarita that was anything but ordinary. This riff turns up the heat with jalapeno infused reposado and cayenne pepper before steadily turning it down with a finish of hibiscus syrup. If you want a drink that brings new flavor with each sip, this is the Margarita for you.

FIRE & NICE

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. Jalepeno infused Espolon Reposado

  • ¾ oz. Lime juice

  • ½ oz. Hibiscus simple syrup*

  • ¼ oz. Agave nectar

  • ½ oz. Cointreau

Instructions

Rim a rocks glass with cayenne pepper and salt then set aside. Combine all ingredients in shaker tin with ice and shake well. Strain into prepared glass over ice and garnish.

*Hibiscus simple syrup: Combine 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of water in saucepan. Bring to boil and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add 1/4 cup dried hibiscus flowers. Steep for 15 minutes and then strain into a glass jar. Keep for 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
