Cocktail of the Week: Black Mountain Coffee

Austin is an amazing city with a cool, unique culture and too many good bars and restaurants to count. During my recent trip, I visited breweries that were also bake shops, saw a pool built over a natural spring creek, and watch thousands of bats fly above the city. I also got to check out the Roosevelt Room.

The Roosevelt Room is a cocktail bar in the heart of Austin. They feature over 70 craft cocktails with unique flavors and presentation. While watching James Bond over a projector screen, I sipped on a "Cigar Box" with a flaming cinnamon stick on an ashtray and enjoy absinthe, gin, and an IPA in the same drink. One of my favorite cocktails, however, was the Black Mountain Coffee.

I needed a pick-me-up after a long day, so when I saw a drink with Irish whiskey, coffee, and Amaro Montenegro, I had to give it a try. The bitterness of the Amaro perfectly balances the banana liqueur and salted caramel cream while the richness of the coffee and black walnut create a decadent whiskey drink. If you make one it will become your go-to-coffee cocktail.
