JUNGLE BIRD

The classic red tiki drink

The Jungle Bird is rumored to have been created in the 1970s at the Kuala Lampur Hilton, what sets this modern classic apart is the addition of Campari. Campari, although not something you would normally suspect in this kind of drink, adds a well balanced bitterness to the rum and pineapple juice. It's a great tiki jumping off point for fans of Negronis.

JUNGLE BIRD

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ oz. rum, Jamaican or blackstrap

  • ¾ oz. Campari

  • ½ oz. lime juice

  • ½ oz. simple syrup

  • 1 ½ oz. pineapple juice

Instructions

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice and strain into an Old Fashioned glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a pineapple wedge or fronds.
