A story of love and inebriation

“There cannot be good living where there is not good drinking.”

- Benjamin Franklin

I started Bitters & Brew in 2018 to celebrate the art and culture of convivial drink. Craft drink culture is in the middle of a renaissance. Home town breweries and small cocktail bars have brought a new vigor to craft drinks, but more importantly, they’ve brought people together. I’ve made lasting friendships, heard incredible stories, and talked for hours with new acquaintances all because of a good drink in a unique place. I created Bitters & Brew to bring this sense of culture and community home.

Growing up, conversations in my family were always done with a drink in hand and because my family lived in a small community, that drink was usually domestic. Luckily, my dad had a taste for craft beer and taught me to appreciate a good drink while driving across the country from brewery to brewery.

Since those days, the craft of a good drink has become my passion. I travelled to hundreds of different breweries, wineries, distilleries and cocktail bars trying drinks and hearing the stories of the people behind them. I learned everything I could, taught myself how to make good drinks at home, and shared my experiences with friends.

Along the way I’ve learned that good drinks bring people together in unexpected and unforgettable ways. It doesn’t matter if you’re in a bar across the world or at home, good drinks mean good conversation and good times. If you search the site, you will find articles on people, places, and drinks, home bartending how-to’s, and great drink recipes for any skill level. Whether you’ve just discovered craft beer and a cocktail shaker or are a seasoned mixologist seeking new inspiration, Bitters & Brew will have you learning and trying new things come 5 o’clock, whenever that is.

Cheers,

Adam Mangen
