Hold the mix
The Margarita is a benchmark of summer cocktails and one of the most popular in North America. Unfortunately, a lot of peoples' perception of the Margarita is based on premade mixes. I'm here to tell you, if your only experience with a Margarita comes from a mix or a machine, you haven't had a Margarita. A true Margarita perfectly balances tang, sweet, and the strong character of tequila and requires little more effort than that mix in your cabinet. This margarita recipe is the only one you ever need to impress your friends and never go back to a mix again. Try it with Solerno Blood Orange instead of Cointreau for added complexity.
2 oz. Espolon Reposado tequila
1 oz. fresh lime juice
½ oz. Cointreau*
½ oz. agave syrup
Add all the ingredients into a shaker with ice, and shake until chilled.
Strain into the rocks glass over ice.
Garnish with a lime wheel and rim with kosher salt (optional)
* Try it with Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur for added complexity
