APPLES AND HOLLY

The perfect red wine cocktail for those harsh winter months

I've never really experimented with red wine cocktails before, but felt like this winter was the perfect opportunity. The apple brandy compliments the stoned fruit of the wine while the chai maple syrup adds just a bit of sweetness and a good spice contrast. The seltzer helps the flavors mingle together for an effervescent holiday treat.

APPLES AND HOLLY

Ingredients

1 ½ oz. Apple brandy
1 ½ oz. Dry red wine
¼ oz. Chai maple syrup*
1 oz. Seltzer

Instructions

Combine all ingredients except for seltzer in mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain into a brandy or wine glass and top with seltzer.

*Chai maple syrup - combine 3 parts maple syrup with 1 part water over low heat. Steep with 2-3 chai tea bags for twenty minutes. Remove from heat and chill.
