CRANBERRY CAIPIRINHA

A cold weather take on a Brazilian favorite
Whiskey_Sour.jpg

The Caipirinha (pronounced kai-purr-REEN-yah) is the national drink of Brazil and uses Cachaca, a sugar cane liquor similar to rum, as the primary ingredient. Rio is a long way away though, and if you can't afford a ticket this winter, then this cranberry and brown sugar spin on the Brazilian classic will make you feel like you're at Carnival.

CRANBERRY CAIPIRINHA

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. cachaça

  • 1 oz.  cranberry juice

  • 10 cranberries

  • 2 bar spoons brown sugar

  • 2 lime wedges

Instructions

Muddle together 2 lime wedges and cranberries in shaker tin.

Add brown sugar then remaining ingredients and shake well with ice.

Fine strain into a rocks glass over ice and garnish with lime wheel.

If desired, freeze large ice cubes with cranberries and use in rocks glass.
