HERE WE GO A'CAROLING

The prettiest gin sour you've ever seen

The point of this drink was to bring all holiday flavors together in a beautiful gin-backed package. This starts with cinnamon. Adding cinnamon to the great pear and peach flavors of Cocchi Americano, reminds me of holiday fruits simmering on the stovetop. I reinforced this with a bit of vanilla syrup to enhance the aromatics.

Next, the pomegranate adds a bit of sourness and tartness to balance the above sweetness. With sour and sweet down, I put together a honey sage shrub to lend some savory and herbaceous notes to really round out the drink. This cocktail is bursting with flavor and hits every part of your tastebuds.

HERE WE GO A'CAROLING

Ingredients

2 oz. Gin
½ oz. Cinammon infused Cocchi Americano
1 oz. Pomegranate juice
½ oz. Vanilla syrup
½ oz. Honey sage shrub*
Egg white

Instructions

Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker. Shake for 20 seconds. Add ice and shake again. Strain into cocktail glass and garnish with crushed hibiscus leaves.

*Honey sage shrub: Bring 1 cup water and a half cup honey to a low boil in a saucepan. Remove from heat and add 15 sage leaves and muddle. Allow to rest for 5 minutes then add a pinch of salt and stir. Add 1 cup apple cider vinegar and stir until combined. Allow to chill.
