THE ROBIN

A fun, vibrant drink for spring
Whiskey_Sour.jpg

With spring right around the corner, it's time to stretch your legs, shake off the frost, and enjoy the outdoors once again. My dad always told me growing up that you know spring is coming soon when you see the first robins appear. I'm not sure how true that really is, but it was always something I looked forward to. To this day, I can't help getting excited for warmer weather any time I see a robin.

That was the inspiration behind this drink and my photo taking trek to capture it.  This drink is fruity and full bodied (think plums and currants) thanks to the combination of Dubbonet and Oloroso, with just a little spice and bitterness. The St. Germain adds a delicious floral aroma which perfectly compliments a good botanical gin like Hendrick's. I'm not sure if it's the color or the floral flavors that make me super pumped for spring to get here, but this is just an excellent front porch sipper.

THE ROBIN

Ingredients

1 ½ oz. Gin (preferably Hendrick's Gin)
1 oz. Dubbonet Rouge
¾ oz. Oloroso Sherry
¼ oz. St. Germain
2 dashes grapefruit bitters

Instructions

Add all ingredients to a mixing glass with ice. Stir until chilled, strain into a rocks glass over a large cube. Garnish and serve.
